A Life Ordained by Faith
Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti was born on 5 May in 1923 in an area called Ngaone in the small town of Chipinge in the Manicaland Province of Zimbabwe. Filled with fear after his mother heard a preacher speak of hell, the young boy began to weep under a tree, talking to the creator he knew was there but did not know how to reach. He eventually accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptised in the Holy Spirit.
Ten years later, Ezekiel felt the call of God to preach. Between 1948 and 1949, he travelled to Salisbury (now Harare) where he met a man shown to him in a dream who baptised him, after which he started to speak in tongues. His early ministry in Mbare faced challenges, and he was even chased from the church after getting extensive press coverage.
Building a Global Ministry
In 1958, he ministered in Highfield at the Highfield Revival Centre for 15 years, where many miracles happened, drawing people from afar. Despite being expelled by jealous leaders, his ministry flourished. He started with a few people, which grew to 80 churches with 43,000 members. Today, Forward in Faith Ministries International (FIFMI), also known as ZAOGA, is a global empire operating in 106 countries with over 5,000 pastors and 4 million members in Zimbabwe alone.
The church has diverse investments, including 120 dressmaking schools, Bible schools, colleges, hospitals, and clinics. A crowning achievement was the granting of a license in 2010 to set up the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) in Bindura, an institution he also funded alongside numerous children's homes and orphanages.

Dr. Guti was a distinguished academic, holding a Bachelor of Christian Education, a Doctorate from Northgate Graduate School, and degrees including BA, MA, DD, D.Min, and a Ph.D. in Religion. He was also a prolific author of over 80 books, with life-changing titles such as “Maturity Which Comes by Knowing the Ways of God” and “Laws and Responsibilities of a Leader.”
Dr. Guti founded numerous philanthropic arms, including the Forward in Faith Orphanage Center and the Mbuya Dorcas Health Centre. He was also known for performing miracles. In a famous instance in 2009, singer David Mabvuramuti, who was visually impaired, was able to see for the first time after Dr. Guti prayed for him.
On the international arena, Dr. Guti preached in several African nations, Europe, the USA, and Asia-Pacific countries. In 2010, ZAOGA FIFMI celebrated its 50th anniversary with over 50,000 believers at the National Sports Stadium in Harare, an event broadcast live on Ezekiel TV, the Christian television network he and his wife founded.
