Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has made a striking claim about the late Wicknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy Muteke, saying the couple knew that their time was limited and were determined to complete their giving and charitable work while they were still at their best.
The claim does not mean Makandiwa said the couple knew they would die in that particular crash. Rather, his statement suggests that, in his account, Chivayo and his wife had a profound internal awareness that their earthly lease was expiring, prompting them to intentionally expedite their giving and finalize their legacy.
‘The Couple Knew Their Time Was Taken’
Makandiwa shared that he had spent time with Chivayo and his wife at their home, which included sharing supper and having deep, private discussions. While noting that some of those conversations would remain completely confidential, he chose to describe these final interactions to make a highly significant revelation.
The preacher's wording leaves open an important question: what did the couple actually know, and what specifically made them believe their time was limited? Makandiwa does not provide a detailed explanation in the statement, nor does he claim that Chivayo told him when or how he expected to die.
Separating The Claim From Prophecy
With the tragedy shocking the nation, Makandiwa also directly addressed questions regarding whether he had foreseen the devastating helicopter crash. In a notable moment of humility, he appeared to distance himself from any suggestion that he holds complete knowledge of future events.
This distinction is vital because Makandiwa’s statement contains two entirely separate issues: his claim about the couple’s alleged awareness that their time was limited, and whether he personally knew about the impending crash.
He firmly stated he did not see the crash itself before it happened. Instead, he noted that the question of whether he had prophetically seen the accident had become less important to him, choosing instead to focus on what he described as the couple’s fierce determination to finish their work of helping others.
Chivayo’s Final Acts Of Giving
These comments come against the backdrop of Chivayo’s highly publicised and often polarizing charitable giving over recent months. In August 2026, Chivayo notably gave Makandiwa US$1 million, an act that was publicly displayed at a United Family International Church service.
Days later, Chivayo also delivered luxury vehicles to Makandiwa and his wife, fulfilling a promise he had previously made to them.
“Makandiwa’s latest statement now places those acts of generosity within his own account of the couple’s final period, emphasizing that they wanted their giving to be completed 'on time'.”
However, the statement does not establish precisely when the couple allegedly became aware that their time was limited, what exactly they knew, or whether they had any specific expectation of an imminent death.
The Theology of Numbering Our Days
Pastorally, Makandiwa’s revelation introduces a profound biblical reality. When a leader operates under the divine realization that their earthly lease is expiring, their priorities radically shift from accumulation to distribution.
Psalm 90:12 commands us: "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." According to Makandiwa’s account, this internal unction is exactly what triggered Chivayo's final, aggressive philanthropic sprint.
It stands as a vital lesson for all marketplace leaders: true legacy is not built by assuming we have decades left, but by living with the fierce urgency that today might be the final opportunity to disburse the blessings God entrusted into our hands.
The Full Official Statement
Below is the complete text extracted directly from Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa's official letter release:
ON BEHALF OF UFI CHURCH, AND MY FAMILY
We extend our condolence to the families of Mr and Mrs Chivayo and to the families of the special crew on board that did not make it home alive, and to the Johane Masowe church and it's Leaders. We pray for the comfort that only God provides
Rev 14v13 blessed are the dead that die in the Lord for they rest from their labour and their works follow them.
None of man's work goes to waste, rather the work always follows the man even in the world to come.
I thank God that we had time together at their house where we had supper and private discussions in that and previous other meetings whose purposes remain confidential.
As for the question of whether I saw the accident prophetically before time or not as some may wonder; that, to me, was rendered unimportant when I stated in time past my inability to see everything. I reiterate that I have never seen everything, I don't see everything, and I won't see everything, only God does because he has no gift to see.
What is important to note, for those that care, is that the couple knew their time to be taken and desired for that time to be while they were at their best, and their giving and helping people was to be completed on time - hence they were in a rush to give and indeed SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST.
You don't honour your Leaders and share your wealth with people at that magnitude and depart without a clear knowledge.
The departure should be at your best time but unfortunately, the time may not be the best for those you leave behind.
We will always keep those grieving in prayer and our Lord Jesus will keep you in His perfect peace.
The worst tragedy to all man is not in dying, but not dying in the Lord Jesus. If that was achieved and is achieved in your personal life we celebrate the new glorious life.
Remain in his Grace
Amen
Emmanuel Makandiwa
A Race Against Time
Wicknell Chivayo, his wife Lucy Muteke, and three other individuals tragically lost their lives when their helicopter crashed near Marondera on September 30, 2026. Investigators are currently examining the exact circumstances of the crash to determine its cause.
The central claim from Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa is not that Chivayo and his wife knew they would die in a catastrophic accident, but rather that they allegedly harbored a deep internal understanding that their time on earth was limited. According to Makandiwa, this profound realization is what fueled their recent, expedited philanthropic efforts, ensuring their work of giving and helping others was completed before their time ultimately ran out.
