Prophet Uebert Angel has broken his silence following the death of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, paying an emotional tribute to the late businessman and describing him as a brother, close friend, protégé and “uncle” whose relationship with the Angel family extended far beyond Chivayo’s public profile as a prominent Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist.
The emotional tribute was shared in the early hours of Friday, October 2, 2026, two days after Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, died in a helicopter crash in Marondera, Zimbabwe. Angel’s tribute offers a personal glimpse into his relationship with Chivayo, shifting the narrative from material wealth to the profound spiritual and emotional bonds of brotherhood.
A Different Side of Wicknell Chivayo
The tribute offered a rare glimpse into the personal relationship between the businessman and the Angel family, with the Prophet explaining that his children had developed a remarkably close bond with Chivayo.
While Chivayo was widely known for his public displays of wealth and large gifts, Angel’s message focused intensely on his place within their family unit, shifting the narrative away from his public persona.
"There are moments when words simply fail us. Wicknell leaving this earth is one of those moments.
He was far more than a generous giver. He became our brother, our friend, submitted protege & family. His presence brought warmth, laughter, kindness, & unforgettable memories into..."

Naming The Five Victims
The helicopter crashed at Kudenga Farm in Marondera on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. While initial police communication stated six people were aboard the aircraft, authorities later corrected the number to five.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi subsequently identified the occupants as Chivayo, Lucy Rujeko Muteke, Saneliswe Magagula, pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda, and co-pilot Courage Mutavirwa.
The crash has attracted widespread international attention because of Chivayo’s high public profile. President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed his death on October 1, while tributes continue to pour in from figures both inside and outside Zimbabwe. Police and aviation authorities are actively examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Chivayo’s Final Gifts To Angel
Angel’s tribute takes on added significance because of the unusually close financial and personal exchanges between the two men in the weeks immediately preceding Chivayo’s death.
On September 21, 2026, Angel publicly thanked Chivayo after receiving a lavish birthday gift. Chivayo also promised to provide Angel’s wife with a brand new 2026 Rolls-Royce Ghost as part of the celebrations.
“You are a marvel, a force, a signature of giving!” — Angel to Chivayo just days before the crash.
Recalling their recent interactions, Angel expressed deep regret that he wouldn't have one last opportunity to speak to him: “I wish I could say goodbye one more time. I wish I could have one more conversation, hear one more laugh, and tell him once again how much he meant to us.”
The Theology of Christian Grief
From a pastoral perspective, Prophet Uebert Angel’s tribute provides a profound masterclass in biblical mourning. The sudden loss of a close friend tests the very core of a leader's theology.
The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 4:13: "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope." Angel’s heartfelt post perfectly balances this tension—acknowledging the devastating earthly reality ("words simply fail us") while anchoring his final thoughts in eternal victory.
Secular mourning views death as a final period, an ultimate termination. Christian mourning, however, views death merely as a comma. As Angel concluded his tribute, he did not say Chivayo was gone forever; he declared: "We did not lose them — Heaven received them."
Heaven Received Them
As authorities and aviation experts continue to comb through the wreckage at Kudenga Farm to determine the exact cause of the crash, the families and close friends of the five victims are left to mourn a sudden and immeasurable loss.
For Prophet Uebert Angel, the immediate focus is the personal devastation of losing someone deeply integrated into his family structure. Leaning heavily on his Christian faith to process the tragedy, Angel concluded his tribute by separately bidding farewell to Chivayo, Lucy, Magagula, Soda, and Mutavirwa, resolutely declaring: “We did not lose them — Heaven received them.”
