Zimbabwean Creatives Champion Pan-African Unity at Zambian Film Premiere
In a significant move to foster Pan-African collaboration, a 15-member delegation of Zimbabwean content creators, including comedy star Frets Donzvo and influencer Mama Vee, are in Zambia for the premiere of the comedy film "AISHA." Led by the Content Creators Association of Zimbabwe (COCAZ), the visit champions a new era of cultural exchange and creative partnership between the two nations.
A Mission of Cultural Exchange
Takunda Tapfuma, co-founder of COCAZ, explained that the event is a unique opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage. He stated that the film's themes align perfectly with their goals: "‘AISHA’ explores cultural values, resonating deeply with COCAZ’s mission to preserve and promote African cultural identity. This aligns with our goal of fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation."
Comedian and musician Frets Donzvo emphasized that the main objective is to "strengthen collaboration and creative policy across Africa." Tapfuma added that the trip will strengthen bonds between Zimbabwean and Zambian creatives, paving the way for future joint projects and allowing local talent to "learn and share with other countries who will be present."
About the Film: "AISHA"
The film's star, Zambian comedian Lucky Comedy, described the movie as an effort to unify the continent through laughter. "We wanted to use comedy as a tool to tell a story of African cultural diversity," he said. "The movie features comedians from different regions, speaking their own dialects, and promotes understanding and acceptance."
"AISHA" tells the story of a young villager’s journey to the city in search of greener pastures, only to discover that the streetlights of Lusaka cast long shadows. Lucky noted, "With humour, Aisha delivers laughter and lessons, drawing from real Zambian experiences. The film uniquely blends traditional heritage with contemporary urban life. It not only features celebrated comedians, but also respected traditional chiefs.”
