Bishop Madawo's Clarion Call: Equipping Zimbabwean Youth with Faith for a Brighter Future

The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe recently concluded its National Youth Conference in Masvingo, Zimbabwe.

Themed "Established and Built on Christ," the conference aimed to equip young people with the spiritual tools and guidance to navigate life's challenges.

AFM President Bishop Amon D. Madawo delivered a powerful keynote address, urging the young attendees to cultivate a deep and unshakeable faith. Drawing inspiration from scripture (1 Samuel 3:1-9;19-20 and 2 Chronicles 20:20), Bishop Madawo outlined a roadmap for spiritual growth and resilience:
  1. Finding Validation in God: Bishop Madawo challenged the youth to break free from the cycle of seeking approval from external sources like peers or social media. He emphasized that true validation and self-worth stem from a deep understanding of one's place in God's plan. By grounding themselves in their faith, young people can develop the inner strength to resist negative influences and societal pressures.
  2. Embracing Your Identity in Christ: The Bishop reminded the youth that they are not merely products of chance, but rather God's creation, "created in Christ for good works." This understanding empowers young people to move through the world with purpose and confidence, recognizing the unique gifts and talents they possess.
  3. Obedience and Submission: A Pathway to Growth: Following God's word and respecting church leadership are not simply religious obligations, but essential steps on the path to spiritual maturity. Bishop Madawo encouraged the youth to actively participate in church activities, seeking guidance and mentorship from their pastors. This act of submission fosters a teachable spirit, allowing young people to learn, grow, and become active vessels within the church community.

The impact of the conference resonated deeply with many attendees. Tatenda, a young man who participated, shared a newfound appreciation for the importance of hard work, serving in the church, and adhering to God's word.

Tadiwa, a young woman, highlighted the message of self-reliance and the importance of prayer as tools to overcome societal pressures like sexual harassment and the temptation to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms.

The AFM National Youth Conference serves as a vital annual event, providing a platform for young people across Zimbabwe to connect, learn, and strengthen their faith. This year's theme, "Established and Built on Christ," offered valuable guidance and encouragement for the future generation of the AFM church. By nurturing a deep foundation in Christ, the conference empowered young people to become active participants in their faith, contributing their unique talents and perspectives to the church community while developing the resilience to navigate the complexities of the modern world.

This emphasis on spiritual growth and personal responsibility promises to cultivate a generation of strong, faithful leaders within the AFM church.
