In the world of talk shows, there is almost no host as beloved as Ellen DeGeneres. Seriously, if there's one person everyone can agree that they love, it's her.
While most talk shows rely heavily on guest appearances to draw viewers in, Ellen herself has managed to be the reason that people continue to tune in. However, despite her current success, Ellen's rise to the top involved plenty of hard work.
During the late 70s, she began a career in stand up comedy which eventually lead to TV roles during the late 80s. Over the years, she's appeared in both big and small screen productions, and at this point it seems like there's nothing she can't do.

But what makes Ellen so different from all of the other comedic personalities on the air? During an interview with CBS back in 2011, Ellen stated, "Most comedy is based on getting a laugh at somebody else's expense. And I find that that's just a form of bullying in a major way" Not wanting to be like the rest, Ellen decided to take a different approach. According to Ellen, her secret to being different is simple: "I want to be an example that you can be funny and be kind, and make people laugh without hurting somebody else's feelings."
Her ability to make people laugh without ever being mean has truly made her a phenomenon. After recently turning 58, DeGeneres plans to go into another year of life being kind, generous, and most of all, hilarious.
