Legends Habits: The Habits Of Legends.

I have written this article as a follow up to an article written by Arthur Mutambara of habits called 'The Power Of Good Habits.' Habits are the result of our actions (the things that we do as we take them from our personalities, be it weaknesses or strengths.) Character is the sum total of our habits. Destiny is the result of our character. I hope as you read my new series on Habits you will be motivated to pursue your dreams and in time be celebrated as a 'Legend' in your own right.

What is a habit!
Habit by definition is action carried out without you thinking through. The moment you start to think before you act, you put every action under your will. You think, decide before you act. Your actions are done consciously and no more habitually. Habits are what you do repeatedly without any conscious thinking and deciding on every occasion. It is an action you carry out in an automatic way.

How your habit manifests
When you understand the way your body works and the personality that you have, you will understand why you are bound to have certain habits. You are really a bundle of habits. Hence, habits will develop whether you wish them or not.
Habits are the result of our actions (the things that we do as we take them from our personalities, be it weaknesses or strengths.) Characters is the sum total of our habits. Destiny is the result of our character.
Habits are the result of our actions (the things that we do as we take them from our personalities, be it weaknesses or strengths.) Characters is the sum total of our habits. Destiny is the result of our character.
Habits manifest in three ways as: Habits of Thought, Habits Of Speech and Habits of Action.

Habits of Action
The habits of action occur every time you tie your shoes, take a walk or drive down street. In the Bible the word custom is used to mean habit. What are habits of Jesus Christ? Here is what the Bible says of Jesus:

The specific word habit is not mentioned in the New King James Version but it is there is the scripture.

Jesus had the custom of visiting the synagogue!

… So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom (etho) was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read… Luke 4:16
Jesus had the habit of praying at the Mount of Olives!

… Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed (etho), and His disciples also followed Him… Luke 22:39
The word used for custom is etho. A primary verb; to be used (by habit or predictability); neuter perfect participle usage: - be custom (manner, wont).

What are habits for Paul?
Paul had a habit of reasoning scriptures:
Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ… Acts 17:2
What are habits for some Christians and the Church?
A quarrelsome Christian has a bad habit!
… But if anyone seems to be contentious (philoneikos), we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God… 1 Corinthians 11:16
Paul says the Christians must not have the custom or habit of being quarrelsome. The word used here is philoneikos (a quarrel); fond of strife, that is, disputatious: - contentious.

Missing church service is a bad habit!

… not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching… Hebrews 10:25
The word used for manner here is the same one asethothat is used for custom. In this the writer of Hebrews shows us that the person who misses services occasionally has a bad habit.

What are habits of thoughts?

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart… Matthew 5:28
The habits of thoughts are more subtle. Your speech or the way you talk, or what you say and how you say it, reveal in most instances your habit of thought. Your mind is arranged to work by habit in a certain pattern.
"Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks… Matthew12:34
Take good note of the thing that you do every-day because, five years to come you would be more under the control of the habits you cultivate and entertain now.
