In a shocking development from that took place in North End, Bulawayo, a 73 year old granny beat up her 77 year old husband to death over a marital dispute. The two had been married for the last 33 years!
According to a report by The Chronicle, Cecilia Muneri had to be restrained by a relative who found her on top of her husband, Takaidzwa Muneri, on Sunday beating him continuously with fists.
Court records state that on Sunday at around 10.50PM, Muneri and her husband were in their bedroom preparing to sleep. They suddenly had a misunderstanding which resulted in a fight.
Muneri then pushed her husband to the wall and he fell to the ground. She then sat on top of him and started assaulting him with open hands. The husband shouted for help attracting the attention of his nephew who came to his rescue.
The nephew also called his brother Tafadzwanashe who was sleeping in the cottage at the same house.
They discovered that their uncle was bleeding from the mouth.
Tafadzwanashe then called an ambulance but after being told that they were all out, he decided to rush his uncle to Mater Dei Hospital in his own vehicle where he was pronounced dead before he was admitted.
Muneri appeared before provincial Magistrate Sibongile Msipa yesterday facing murder charges and was granted bail to November 21 on $50 bail.
