Apostle Rodney Chipoyera, founder and leader of Kingdom Prosperity Ministries (KPM), has broken his silence following the tragic death of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, describing the late tycoon as a friend, brother, ministry partner, and visionary whose generosity touched countless lives.
Apostle Rodney Chipoyera has described the late businessman as a visionary who heavily financed the advancement of the gospel.
The condolence message follows the devastating September 30, 2026 helicopter crash in Marondera that claimed the lives of Wicknell Chivayo, his wife Lucy Muteke, and three other individuals. The tragedy has prompted an unprecedented outpouring of condolences from Zimbabwe's religious and business sectors.
A Deep Loss For Kingdom Prosperity Ministries
Apostle Rodney Chipoyera has joined a growing chorus of Zimbabwean church leaders mourning the death of Wicknell Chivayo. In the condolence message issued through Kingdom Prosperity Ministries (KPM), Chipoyera said he and the wider KPM church family were “heartbroken” and still coming to terms with the profound loss.
“He Opened Doors For Many”
Lifting The Humble: Chipoyera emphasized that Chivayo believed in lifting people from humble beginnings, utilizing his massive wealth to make dreams possible for countless beneficiaries across the nation.
Passion For The Kingdom
Internal Drive: The KPM founder described Chivayo as a man who possessed a deep, internal “passion for seeing the Kingdom of God advance.” Apostle Chipoyera also extended his prayers and condolences to the extended Chivayo family.
A Relationship Beyond Donations
The condolence statement provides critical insight into the relationship between Wicknell Chivayo and Kingdom Prosperity Ministries. Apostle Chipoyera did not describe Chivayo simply as a wealthy donor, but as a friend, brother, and covenant partner of KPM.
Reported Ministry Support
Massive Backing: Chivayo was famously reported to have gifted Apostle Chipoyera a highly coveted 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series ZX, accompanied by a staggering US$100,000 in cash to support the ministry's vision.
Chivayo had been widely reported as one of Zimbabwe's most prominent philanthropists, with his donations extending to churches, religious leaders, musicians, and community beneficiaries. However, Chipoyera’s message characterizes the relationship with KPM as a deeply spiritual partnership rather than merely a financial transaction.
The Theology of the Kingdom Financier
From a pastoral and leadership perspective, Apostle Chipoyera’s tribute highlights a powerful biblical archetype: The Kingdom Financier. While secular society and tabloid media often fixated on the sheer spectacle of Chivayo’s wealth, the church recognizes a much deeper spiritual principle at work.
Throughout Scripture, God has always raised up wealthy individuals in the marketplace to fund spiritual mandates. We see this vividly in Luke 8:3, which describes wealthy women like Joanna and Susanna who supported Jesus' ministry "out of their own means."
Earthly Wealth for Eternal ROI
Proverbs 11:25: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." True marketplace leaders understand that money is not just a tool for personal luxury, but a weapon for Kingdom advancement.
Chivayo’s aggressive financial backing of ministries challenges modern executives with a critical question: Are you merely accumulating wealth to build earthly barns (Luke 12), or are you actively partnering with ministries to finance the preaching of the gospel?
