21 Days Lockdown: A Blessing in Disguise

Despite the fact that most businesses have lost revenue, the lockdown has come with some benefits which we couldn’t have had if it wasn’t because of the lockdown, especially with regards to our family relationships and spiritual lives.

I, personally, have lost revenue but, as I reflect on what I’ve gained in exchange for the loss, I have a number of reasons to thank God for:

1. First, the lockdown has given me loads of time to REST. In this part of the world, most of us are self-employed. As such, our businesses demand our presence all the time and we rarely find time to give our bodies the rest it needs and we work and work wearing ourselves to the point of death. This lockdown has given most of us the opportunity to rest, though in a forced way.

2. Secondly, the lockdown has given me precious time to be with the people that matter the most to me: family. Due to our busy schedules, we rarely find time to be with our families. We got no time to play with our kids. We spent little to no time with our spouses. Thank God for the lockdown, we have managed to have some special time to be with our families.

3. Thirdly, the time with our families has helped us mend our relationships. We are talking issues out, solving our differences, learning one another as well as enjoying each other. Now, what more could we, or our spouses ask for? In addition to mending our physical relationships with and within our families, we got an opportunity to mend our spiritual relationship with our Maker as we got more time to read the Word and to pray.

4. Fourthly, the lockdown has given me a time of REFLECTION and ordering my priorities. The ‘extra’ time we got is an opportunity for us to take another look at our lives and see where exactly we are headed to if we don’t change some things about our lives. It’s time we can use to refocus and make necessary adjustments.

5. Lastly, the ‘extra’ time we got helps us sharpen our axe. For me, during these days of lockdown, I managed to acquire a new skill which I’m sure will make me earn even more. Hallelujah!

I encourage you to use this time to upgrade yourself by learning something new.

There are many sources of teachings close to every one of us, what’s needed is the desire to learn.
Stay Safe and Stay Blessed
