The Call to Leadership with Overseer A. Madawo of Apostolic Faith Mission | Iron Sharpens Iron with Bishop Nelson Nzvimbo

The call to leadership is the call to influence. Leadership according to John C. Maxwell is influence. A leader knows the ways … shows the way and thus goes the way … People can only be influenced by a person who does what he says or talks – a leader who has influence acts and does before he speaks.

The call to leadership is the call to love people. God’s business is people. A leader called by God must love people … and a leader that is truly called by God loves people … loving people is the ultimate sign of the calling of God upon people … A person who does not love or care for people has failed leadership before he has begun.

When people know that they are loved by their leader … the will do everything in their power to stand with their leader.

A good leader must develop people skills.

Loving people means building people.

The number one business of the church is not finances or building … it is people …

One of the important signs of a good leader is in knowing the followers by name.

The call to leadership is the call to hard work. A good leader is someone who works very hard. Lazy people have no place is leadership … it is importance for a leader to know that when God has called you … he has not called you to celebrity status –he has called us to the status of servant-hood and serving. God leaders know that if you work like a slave – the people around you will treat you like a King. Kingship status is not demanded by the leader but is acknowledged by those who follow you.

The call to leadership is a call to the baptism of fire. Accusations, rejections, gossips, caring of the cross is part of leadership.

Growing into leadership is growing into the ability to carry the cross and wearing the crown of thorns.

The same people who cried for the sacrificing and killing of Jesus are the same ones whom he had healed.
The call to leadership is the call to carry the heaviest burden. A good leader is always ahead of those whom he follows. A leader is ahead in all ... in giving … in praying … in tithing … and in all things.
When it comes to financing projects and sustaining the work of god the leader must carry the heaviest of all burdens.

The call to leadership is the call to produce leaders. One of the most important task of a leader is the task to groom and train leaders. A true leader is not threatened by the growth of those who he leaders. The greatness of the follower is a sign that the one who leads him has grown.

Leadership succession is a legacy building strategy that works and true leaders must know that training and mentoring followers is the art of growing the vision, mission and mandate that God has placed over you.

A leader must be an encourager and mentee a trainer of leaders.

Jesus reproduced himself through his leaders … even when he departed into heaven … he left the power to the leader … Elisha was mentored by Elijah … Joshua was mentored by Moses. The error of Joshua is that he failed to raise a leader just like he had been raised by Moses.

The call to leadership is the call to network with other leaders. The true mark of leadership is in acknowledging that you are not the only leader in the city. God never ever calls one person and single handedly places upon them the mandate of taking over the nation.

Leadership networking is very important for the leader. The leader must never ever walk alone.

A leader will never grow if he walks alone and refuses to network.
