A Fall from Grace? Tocky Vibes Reportedly Blames Juju for Career Misfortunes

A Fall from Grace? Tocky Vibes Reportedly Blames Juju for Career Misfortunes

By Oudney Patsika | Sona Headlines

Zimdancehall sensation Tocky Vibes, who took the nation by storm in 2014, is reportedly facing a severe career downturn, culminating in a failure to secure any shows in Harare during the festive season. Amid this decline, explosive claims have emerged from his camp that a top, unnamed musician is using juju to sabotage his career.

Tocky Vibes allegedly believes supernatural forces are thwarting his career.

Supernatural Sabotage?

A close band member revealed that Tocky Vibes is convinced a rival musician is using dark arts to hinder his success. "He has tried to be on top of his game but after a spate of incidents... Tocky Vibes concluded that the musician was using juju on him," the source claimed. The situation has reportedly escalated to the point where Tocky has vowed never to share a stage with the accused artist again.

The source cited a specific and alarming incident to support the claims. "At one of the shows, his voice even faded when he shared the stage with the musician. He was cross and tried to chase the musician off the stage," the band member alleged. This and other on-stage struggles have reportedly solidified Tocky's belief that supernatural forces are at play.

When reached for comment, Tocky Vibes' manager, Elvis Bokosha, declined to address the juju allegations directly. Instead, he confirmed the lack of festive season shows in Harare, stating, "Yes, we did not have any shows in Harare... and we are on a January break." He shifted focus to their plans for 2016, which include a new album and international tours to Australia and the UK.

A Shadowy Reality in the Music Scene

While shocking to the public, the idea of using juju for career advancement is reportedly an open secret within the music industry. Sungura musician **Romeo Gasa** acknowledged the practice, stating, "Most musicians use juju or consult prophets to improve their fortunes while others perform rituals before they get on stage."

Gasa, however, took a firm stance against it: "I have vowed that I will not do that. I prefer to live in a thatched mud hut than be popular using juju... as long as my conscience is clean before God."

Seeking Deliverance: A Growing Trend

The incident comes at a time when a growing number of musicians facing waning fortunes are turning to prominent Pentecostal churches for deliverance and career revival. This trend highlights a deep-seated belief in the spiritual dimension of success and failure within the arts community.

Artists such as **Allan Chimbetu, Nicholas Zakaria, Taso, and Maskiri** have all been regulars at Prophet Walter Magaya's Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries. Similarly, dancer **Beverley Sibanda** has famously hopped between churches, seeking both salvation and a revival of her career, underscoring the complex relationship between faith, fame, and fortune in Zimbabwe.
