The book is titled Julius Nyerere, Asante Sana, Thank You, Mwalimu.

NewsDay spotted Bona wearing a pink maternity dress at the function.

Bona, named after Mugabe’s late mother, is the veteran leader’s first child in a family of three from his second marriage to First Lady Grace Mugabe, which also includes Robert Junior and Chatunga Bellarmine.

Strenuous efforts to get confirmation, either from the First Family or the Information ministry, this week proved fruitless.

Mugabe’s spokesperson, George Charamba, was not reachable yesterday, while the principal director in the Information ministry, Regis Chikowore, said he was not aware of Bona’s “status”.

“I was not at the function (at State House). I am not, therefore, aware of her (Bona)’s status,” he said.
