Prophet Walter Magaya The daily bread: The power of praise Acts.16:23-26 [NKJV]

23 And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. 24 Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them,26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened.

Good morning children of God!
Hareruya vanhu vaMwari!
Mangwanani vanhu vaMwari!

Paul and Silas did not beg God for their release but they simply went into praise with songs and hymns. They knew their situation needed God but did not waste time wailing or drawing long faces. Hapana akanga akajega dama nokuda kwesituation yavo. Hapana akanga akarebesa huso. Vaitoshamisika kuti vamwe vose vakasuwei. They knew their God as the God of wonders. It was through prayer and praise that freedom came into their lives.

You could be in a prison of problems right now but God can free you today. Is it cancer, fibroids, barrenness or any disease? God can reach out to you. Psalms 103:3 says, we were healed of all diseases. The Bible does not say some diseases but says, ALL. You could be single right now and you desire marriage in your life, that is your prison. You could be not gainfully employed and living a miserable life, that is your prison.

Your spirit does not have peace and you are being tormented by the evil spirits, that is your prison too. You could be a drug or alcohol addict, chain smoker, that is your prison. You have an incurable disease for years now, that is your prison. You cannot make it in life, your life is full of set-backs, delays and limitations spirits, those are exactly your prisons.

But the word today is teaching us to praise Him and not cry about our situation. Just remember and acknowledge Him as Lord, Jehovah Jirreh – the provider in your life, Jehovah Nissi – your banner, shield and your protection. Acknowledge Him as Jehovah Rapha – the God who heals. Call upon him with praise today, using all the names of his offices in accordance to your situation and God will meet you at your point of need. Shout, “Yadah!” all the time and that causes confusion in the devil’s kingdom.

Are you here?
Verses 23-24 say that the jailer was tasked to monitor Paul and Silas more than any other prisoners. There were prisoners with more serious crimes than that of Paul and Silas if ever it was a crime. Murderers and serial killers were not monitored but Paul and Silas. Robbers and rapists were not monitored but Paul and Silas.

This same applies to you the child of God today. The anointing in you does not make the devil comfortable. The success in your life does not auger well with your enemy’s agenda. Your enemies can see the rate of excelling that is happening in your life even if some of it is not yet into flesh. As a result, the devil is assigning his angels and agents to monitor your life more than anyone else. Anomakwa ndiye anebhora. The devil does not care about others but you because of your potential that is loaded with testimonies. However, no matter from which direction your enemies come, they will flee away in seven directions. Varoyi havapere asi haucharoyeka.

Paul and Silas knew the secret of how to lift their hearts above their troubles and enter into God’s presence and power. Through praise and worship their hearts were raised into the joyous presence and peace of God, and provided God a channel for his power to operate in their circumstances.

Uripanapa here iwewe?

At midnight (verse 25) Paul and Silas started praying and praising. They did not cry about their situation neither did they even ask God to set them free. They never put on long faces for being in prison but they sang praises with joyful faces.

The Bible says that God inhabits in the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). In other words, God “dwells” in the atmosphere of His praise. This means that praise is not merely a reaction from coming into His presence - Praise is a vehicle of faith which brings us into the presence and power of God! Praise and worship is the “gate-pass” which allows us to enter the sacredness of His glory. The psalmist in Psalms.100:4 says, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name”.

Praise means “to commend, to applaud or magnify.” For the Christian, praise to God is an expression of worship, lifting-up and glorifying the Lord. It is an expression of humbling ourselves and centering our attention upon the Lord with heart-felt expressions of love, adoration and thanksgiving. High praises bring our spirit into a pinnacle of fellowship and intimacy between ourselves and God — it magnifies our awareness of our spiritual union with the most high God. Praise transports us into the realm of the supernatural and into the power of God.

There are many actions involved with praise to God — verbal expressions of adoration and thanksgiving, singing, playing instruments, shouting, dancing, lifting or clapping our hands. But true praise is not “merely” going through these motions. Genuine praise to God is a matter of humility and sincere devotion to the Lord from within.

Unpretentious praise and worship pleases the Lord. He delights in the love and devotion of His children. According to the scriptures, the various expressions of praise bring blessing to the Lord. He eagerly awaits the fragrance of our affections, desiring to manifest His sweet presence and power in our midst.

All too often, praise to God is something that many people leave at church, an event that happens only when they come together with other Christians. However, praise should be a part of a believer’s lifestyle, inter-mingled as a part of their daily prayer-life. At work, in the car, at home in bed or anywhere. Praise to the Lord brings the refreshing of the Lord’s presence, along with His power and anointing.

Praise is an expression of faith, and a declaration of victory! It declares that we believe God is with us and is in control of the outcome of all our circumstances (Romans 8:28). Praise is a “sacrifice,” something that we offer to God sacrificially, not just because we feel like it, but because we believe in Him and wish to please Him.

Since praise manifests God’s presence, we also realize that praise repels the presence of the enemy, Satan. An atmosphere which is filled with sincere worship and praise to God by humble and committed hearts is disgusting to the Devil. He fears the power in the name of Jesus, and flees from the Lord’s place in praise.

When God’s people begin to praise His name, it sends the enemy running! I challenge you to become a person of praise, and you will experience the release of the power of God!

There you are the flock of Jesus, stop worrying over that problem. Tell the problem how BIG your God is and stop telling God how big your problem is. He is a God of impossibilities.

Set yourself free from spiritual, physical and economic bondages by Shouting, “Yadah!!” – every time.

When Paul and Silas were thrown into the inner prison cells they did not cry unto God!

Paul and Silas did not put on long faces!
Paul and Silas did not mourn over their situation!
Paul and Silas did not glorify their problems BUT GOD!
Paul and Silas did not blame God for their situation!
Paul and Silas did not the hate the prison guards for the guards were just doing their job!

BUT Paul and Silas raised their voices unto the Lord with Praise!
They shouted with joy because they knew with PRAISE everything would be unlocked!

AND with PRAISE INDEED God located them and freed them!
The chains got broken and the prison cell doors broke open through the Mighty Power of God!

Remember an unhappy face does not bring results to your situation!
An unhappy face does not change the situation to become better!
A sorrowful face is a joy to the devil because he inflicts you with problems in order for you to be sorrowful!

Upset the devil today by doing the opposite of the devil’s intentions – smile, laugh, dance, shout and praise all the way long and weaken the devil to defeat!

Remember, when praises go up – blessings come down!
When praises of an unstable marriage go up – peace and harmony come down into your marriage!

When praises over your poverty situation go up – financial breakthrough comes down!
When praises over your sickness go up – restoration of your health comes down!
When praises over your mental breakdown go up – restoration of your mental state comes down!
When praises over your educational challenges go up – academic excellence comes down!

DO NOT ASK BUT JUST PRAISE – PRAISE – PRAISE!!

So continue to PRAISE and unleash the Mighty Power of God upon every situation in your life!
PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE!

Shout, ”Yadahhhhhhhhhh! Abbah! Father! Jehovah Nissi! Jehovah Jirreh! Jehovah Shammah! Jehova Rapha! Jehova Elgibbor! I am crossing over! I am taking ooooooover!
I am taking over as I turn around this month!”

Glory be to God. Mbiri kuna Jesu.
Let there be light – the light that pushes away darkness.
