More than 1,000 people from all walks of life yesterday thronged Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton to witness the wedding of sungura musician Alick Macheso’s daughter Sharon, who tied the knot with her long-time beau, Kudakwashe Munetsi. The colourful ceremony drew more than 600 invited guests and almost 400 gatecrashers.

From Vows to Reception

The union was celebrated across two iconic locations, blending religious solemnity with high-society festivities.

St Francis Roman Catholic Church Many people gathered in Waterfalls where the two exchanged vows before travelling to Norton for the main reception.
High-Profile Attendance The event went out of hand after those invited brought their own entourage, swelling the numbers to over a thousand attendees.
Customary Roots The white wedding follows the couple's customary marriage which took place in February earlier this year.

The Paternal Gift & Speeches

Speaking at the wedding, Alick Macheso thanked his mother, family and friends before surprising the couple with a substantial gift.

A House in Chitungwiza “I would like to thank everyone for coming out here and for the newly-weds, I bless you with a house in Chitungwiza,” Macheso announced.
Light-Hearted Moments Macheso joked about how he once came close to assaulting his son-in-law, unaware that the relationship would culminate in marriage.

The red carpet affair featured classy decoration and high-energy performances from Zimbabwe’s top musical stars.

Star Performers Musicians Suluman Chimbetu and Mudiwa Mutandwa performed at the wedding, which lasted until late into the night.
Governmental Presence The ceremony drew several Governmental officials and the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society secretary-general, Mr Maxwell Phiri.
