The world over the last 2000 years have tried different forms of government all of which seem to be failing. There has been Feudalism, Capitalism, Dictatorship, Communism, Socialism and the world has finally settled for Democracy. We may say in other words, Democracy is the best man made systems of governance but not the best.
People are trying to find the best way to govern themselves and manage resources that are there on earth and in their quest for management many have been left in want if not destroyed by what they are intending to own. The global economies are in serious trouble and many do not know where and who to turn to. The big question is, has it been so from the beginning and is there any hope for the future of nations and the masses.
The majority of people whether in the so called 1st World nations or in the 3rd world nations, is in trouble and very few people seem to be in control. From recession, moral collapse, economic collapse, physical and health collapse, collapse of natural resources, climatic changes and uncertainties and natural disasters, elected leaders have no answer to where things are headed to.
We can look at it this way as a global crises but what can a poor Zimbabwean who is struggling to get water running from their tap and no employment for them or just lost their job and have to fork our money that is not there to pay for bills of services that are not predictable, have to do? Is there hope for the world and who should we turn to. The crisis has been in the making for the last 6000 years and the solution has been defined from the beginning but one generation from another people seem to be hiding behind their fingers and make the situation worse for the proceeding generation.
My response to all the global crises is that even democracy will not make this world a better place. In his book Kingdom Principles, Dr Myles Munroe traces the emergence of Democracy and it's fortification saying,
The founders and framers of the American concept of governing championed the cause of democracy and adopted the Greek ideas and refined them to accommodate their aspirations. America rejected a kingdom. America’s dream and guiding principles were independence, self-determination, and individuality; but while these principles serve as the bedrock of Western democracy, they remain contrary to the Kingdom principles.
Democracy, with people having so much faith in it has not worked and has caused more harm than good. Democracy was started as rebellion against a concept of the Kingdom. The Kingdom concept is God’s idea of governance that was from the start but not as it was administered after the universal rebellion through Adam. The biblical account of the fall of man in Eden accounts for the chaos that resulted when man rebelled against the system of Governance that had been put in place by the Creator.
The Kingdoms set by man which are understood as the Feudalism system of Governance also failed because selfish and self-ambitious and greedy people were given power and took possession of land and resources for private ownership at the ransom of the masses. It was in rebellion to this system that Democracy was born and it is the same democracy that has taken the world to where it is today.
Democracy is built on the tenets of Private Ownership of property and constitutional power in the hands of the masses but the state of affairs shows what Dr Myles in his book, Understanding Kingdom Principles said.
“The record of history and the present state of the world gives evidence that man left to himself make a poor god……. Simply put, democracy without God is man’s worship and elevation of himself and his own intelligence. What a tragedy!”
In democracy, a man in trouble elects someone just like them who has contributed to the creation of chaos, one just like him and expects them to be a better leader and take them out of the chaos they created together.
Albert Einstein said, “The Significant problems that we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.”
The first and foremost reason why Democracy will always fail is the fact that it is a system that has no vision for its existence other than maintenance of resources that it did not create. It does not look back to find the reason of existence of man and what was in the mind of the Creator of man and the resources that man was given stewardship over. Democracy is built in the survival mode where nations are seeking how best they can survive and maximise on the resources that they have private ownership over. The families are seeking survival and ownership and a way to secure the future and this is the same motivation even of the individual even the student who has just started school.
As long as the motivation is survival and private ownership, greed will kill everything that the system will be seemingly building. The true motivation of the Creator of mankind was not to give man a wonderful experience as an end but was to bring a culture on earth. It was a king who was bringing his Kingdom in a new territory and the ambassadors would then have a beautiful experience as long as they maintained the principles and culture of the Kingdom. The Culture of this Kingdom and its way of operation was well designed to maintain, develop and make the territory a better place at the same time giving mankind an eternal experience full of joy, peace, prosperity and pleasure….Life Experience.
The governing law and principle that would maintain life was always the Law of FRUITFULNESS. Mankind was always allowed to eat fruit and nothing more. When you go to a fruit tree you enjoy the fruit and you never temper with the seed and the tree that bears the fruit. In this principle you enjoy and use nothing other than fruit and hence the means of production is never tempered with. You never temper with the goose that lays the golden eggs but maintain and feed it while using the golden eggs. This is the principle that we will explain further in future blogs as we learn how God’s solution of the government of His Kingdom operates.
A Hebrew prophet spoke of the coming of this Kingdom system of governance saying,
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. [Isa 9:6-7]
When the Son and King whom Isaiah was talking about came on the scene he had no other message but that of the Kingdom and everywhere he went he said,
"The time promised by God has come at last!" he announced. "The Kingdom of God is near! Repent and believe the Good News!" [Mark 1:15]
The best form of government had come and mankind had to respond by repentance which literally is to change your perceptions and thinking. The good thing is that this solution does not wait for a complete removal of the democratic system to work. It can start to work at individual level where one does not need the majority vote to change the system of governance over their lives. One can experience the Kingdom governance by accepting its King, The Lord Jesus and then daily begin to repent and change perceptions about everything as you adopt the Kingdom principles and culture.
Have you lost your job, estate, health? Are you in any form of trouble or chaotic situation? The Kingdom system of governance can begin to work for you. As you experience it you will spread the rule to your family, then to your neighbour until it’s in the whole community and nation. Then when the whole nation makes God their king, they will enjoy the blessing of a Kingdom and escape the curse of democracy.
Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His heritage. [Ps 33:12]
