Dr. Goodwill Shana is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Life International Ministries founded in the City of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 1990. 

Starting with a congregation of 4, the Church has grown to over 15 000 members in 5 Branches across the world including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Goodwill Shana is a lawyer by training and a holder of a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) Degree as well as an Honorary Doctor’s Degree from Antioch Bible College in Columbus Ohio.

Dr. Goodwill Shana is the current President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) and has also served as the Vice President of the AEA for 4 years. Dr. Goodwill Shana has served the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe for the past 20 years at various levels from Provincial Chairperson to President. He served as the President of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe from 2007 to 2014. During his two term tenure, he also served as Chair of the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denomination, comprising of the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference (ZCBC), the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), the Union for the Development of Zionist and Apostolic Churches in Zimbabwe (UDACIZA) and of-course the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ).

Dr. Goodwill Shana was instrumental in bringing the Church together in unity of purpose and national significance first at EFZ level and then at ZHOCD level. During his term the Church crafted a kairos and seminal document called “The Zimbabwe We Want” which dealt with the challenges that faced Zimbabwe, possible strategies and the solutions available as well as the role of the Church in national reconstruction.

Through the EFZ and ZHOCD, Dr. Goodwill Shana also played a significant role in the political dialogue and transition to the Government of National Unity. He was appointed to be Vice-Chair of the Constitutional Draft Committee on Constitutional Values, during the Constitutional Draft period.
Dr. Goodwill Shana has also served the nation of Zimbabwe at various state levels as the Chair of Transparency International Zimbabwe and special TI Envoy to Kenya as well as a member of the Zimbabwe National Education Advisory Board (NEAB) and as a Commissioner in the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission. He is a Convener of the Great Zimbabwe Scenarios Project and Eminent Person of the Centre for Peace Initiatives In Africa. Dr. Goodwill Shana is a shortlisted candidate for the Zimbabwe National Peace and Reconciliation Commission.

Dr. Goodwill Shana is married to Pastor Maureen B. Shana and they have four Children.
