Man as Priest of the House By Apostle Pride Sibiya

If a prophet represents God to people, then a priest represents people to God. In the Old Testament, a priest would turn his back to the people and mediate for them before God.

Jesus is the High Priest who mediated between people and the Father by the sacrifice of His life. A priest mediates before God.

A man is to be the family priest. He represents his wife and children to God. He spends time in prayer each day remembering the needs and concerns of his wife. He prays for the salvation of his children. Like Job, he asks the Lord to forgive the sins of his children. He sets the spiritual temperature in the home. He sacrifices his life for theirs. He is a mediator to God for his family.

Job stood as a priest of his house before God. Job 1:5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." Thus Job did regularly.
Practical Marks of Man as Priest:

1. Sacrifice: A father must be able to sacrifice and kill – lay a sacrifice on the altar.

2. Prayer: Matthew 6 (Pray like Jesus told you to pray); John 17: 8-9, 17-18, 20(Pray like Jesus)

3. Worship Leader: Men should take the initiative on Sunday Mornings. Men should get kids dressed, fed and ready for church. Men should review memory verses, get offerings ready, pray for school teachers, etc. Men should take the initiative in Prayer, Bible Study, and family devotions. If you do not like to read out loud, ask your wife or one of your children to read a few verses.

4. Discipleship: It is never enough to just focus on behavior-to train children to obey you immediately, to sit up straight, not interrupt, and do their schoolwork faithfully, and so on. You have to do a work in their heart. As you have probably heard along the way, rules without relationship lead to rebellion. This is all tied to winning your children’s hearts.”  – transcript for his glory conference.
