A 15-YEAR-OLD girl raped by two men.

A 15-YEAR-OLD girl allegedly raped by two men in Bulawayo’s Kumalo suburb last month yesterday told a court that she had last had sex two weeks before the alleged attack.

The teenager, who gave her evidence in camera yesterday, revealed this as the State closed its case in the rape trial of Mike Marata and Bekithemba Maphosa.

She said the two friends first bought her favourite beer, Hunters Dry, at Bradfield before they raped her at their rented Kumalo residence. A medical report presented in court will show that there was no evidence of penetration, defence lawyers said.

Marata, 35, and Maphosa, 29, played football while the alleged victim and her friend took a swim. The two men later raped the teenager, it is alleged.

Three State witnesses testified before Trust Muduma, prosecuting, rested. The defence will apply to regional magistrate Chrispen Mberewere for an acquittal before Marata and Maphosa are put to their defence on June 3.

“On our way to Kumalo, they bought me Hunters Dry as it is my favourite beer. After the swim, I went to the bathroom intending to bath and while in the tub, I was joined by Maphosa who jumped into the water naked,” the girl testified.

The girl testified that she spent about 30 minutes in-between naked Maphosa’s legs and that Marata came to the bathroom and took pictures of them. She also said Marata complained that the victim’s friend was “not game” as she had a strong rural background.

“After talking about social issues, I came out of the bath tub and Maphosa pulled me to the bedroom. Marata came into the bedroom carrying a condom and raped me. I didn’t say anything to show that I did not consent and afterwards, Maphosa came and raped me as well.”

She also confessed to missing school for a month during the first term. The girl’s friend also testified and told the court that she found her crying in the bathroom before narrating her ordeal.

On April 17 this year, the girls, according to Muduma, had arranged with a friend who also lives at the residence that they would visit him for a swim. He said the victim’s male friend was also known to Maphosa.

It was Marata and Maphosa, however, who turned up to pick the girls along Troutbeck Road in Greenhill.
