AMIDST reports of terminal illness, President Robert Mugabe’s wife, Grace, has resurfaced to attend the party’s politburo meeting. The First Lady, who spent several weeks abroad receiving treatment for an unknown ailment, returned last week and on Thursday attended the politburo meeting where she sat next to her husband at the top table.
Looking calm and composed, Grace entered into the politburo room, greeted every member with a smile before she sat next to Mugabe who was flanked by the two vice presidents, Emmerson Mnangangwa and Phelekezela Mphoko.
Clad in party regalia, Grace reportedly participated actively throughout the meeting.

Recently, pictures of a frail looking Grace went viral on social media particularly on WhatsApp and Facebook.
In January Mugabe told Zanu PF supporters who had gathered at Harare International Airport to welcome him back home from Singapore where he had spent six weeks holidaying that Grace had remained behind recovering from surgery to remove a nagging appendix.
But a few days after Grace returned home, she reportedly slipped out of the country to Dubai to receive further treatment, triggering speculation that she was suffering from a more serious ailment than appendicitis as her husband had said.
Last year, Grace dominated Zimbabwe’s political landscape after her nomination to lead the Zanu PF Women’s League.
She led the campaign against the then vice president Joice Mujuru which eventually led to the war veteran’s dismissal by Mugabe.

But this year, Grace has made only a few public appearances.
