Mbanje cakes have hit Midlands State University.
According to a source, Yananayi Chihuta (20), a student, allegedly bought marijuana from a vendor on 5 April. He allegedly baked cakes which he sold to Irvine Chizhande (21) and Chizhande allegedly gave the cakes to a female student, Eunice Nyamwenda.

Tables, however, turned when Nyamwenda, the victim, collapsed after eating the cakes.

She was rushed to Gweru General Hospital where medical practitioners discovered that her collapse was due to drug overdose.

She was treated and the matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Chizhande and Chihuta.

The two were expected to appear in court on 12 April but the case could not be heard as Nyamwenda did not show up.

A source told this publication that it is not the first time for mbanje cakes to hit MSU.

“This is not the first time for the mbanje cake’s scandal to hit MSU. Last year a group of students were expelled from the institution over such cakes.”
